Instagram is testing a new feature that will give users quick access to short videos (Reels) they've recently shared with friends to encourage them to retweet more often.
A Turkish account called Dijital AÄŸlar has tweeted about the feature of showing a series of short videos (reels) above the DM area under the (recent posts) of the latest actions.
Screenshots posted by the account show that shared posts also show the avatars of your friends who shared the short video. If a user shares the same short video multiple times, the short video will only appear once along with the avatar of the last shared friend.
Instagram confirmed the feature's development to TechCrunch in a statement, with a (Meta) spokesperson saying, "We're improving how previously shared short videos (Reels) are found and rediscovered in Messages."
However, the company has not specified whether the feature will display posts other than short videos (Reels) in the Recent Posts section. He also did not provide any information about the starting plan.
It is not surprising that Instagram does not include other types of content from publications, especially since the company has had a strong competitive focus on short videos over the past few years, with services such as: TikTok until last year when it announced any video less than 15 minutes to appear as a contribution. (rails).
It is also believed that the idea behind the new test is to get users to share short videos with their friends and watch them regularly, since watching these videos frequently results in more ads, which is what Instagram wants.
Most notably, Meta recently announced the suspension of Facebook and Instagram's monetary incentive program for short video creators (Rails), the company's plan to pay creators monthly payments when their content accumulates views.
A spokesperson told Meta Business Insider that the company is developing a range of new tools and solutions to help creators achieve a steady stream of revenue.
