Notifications are an important part of our electronic devices because they draw our attention to important messages and alerts, and thus the lack of notifications of some applications, for example b- WhatsApp, sometimes causes us to miss some important and urgent messages.
The problem of not receiving WhatsApp notifications is one of the most common problems that you can encounter in the app and while all other features are working fine, either you cannot hear the notification sound or your phone is not showing the notification preview.
So today we are going to go over what you can do when you are not receiving WhatsApp notifications on your phone:
1- Restart the phone:
If there is a problem with your phone or an app; The first step is to turn off the phone for at least 30 seconds and then turn it back on. Since this step is simple but can solve some small issues, you can use WhatsApp. The application solves the problem of not receiving notifications.
2- Free up space on your phone:
If you do not have free space on your phone, you will not receive notifications from most applications, the most important of which is the WhatsApp application, especially since through it you receive multimedia files such as images and audio clips, and these files require space on the phone to store them to open.
When your phone is running low on storage, a warning will appear. However, if you want to check available disk space manually, you can follow the steps below:
- Go to your phone settings (settings).
- Click on the (Storage Spaces) option. You will see a list of everything that takes up space on your phone, and you will find that videos and photos take up the most space, so delete some of them.
Make sure to delete large and old videos to free up storage space, and you can also uninstall apps that you haven't used for a long time, and the app notification will appear on your phone when your phone has enough storage space.
3- Check your WhatsApp notification settings:
Your phone's operating system allows you to turn off notifications from any app that you find annoying. If you are getting notifications from all other apps except WhatsApp, then you may have stopped WhatsApp notifications by mistake and check if you can follow the next step:
Note: The following steps vary depending on the phone model.
- Go to your phone settings (settings).
- Click on the (Application Management) option.
- Click on the Apps menu option and select the WhatsApp app from the list.
- Click on the (Manage Notifications) option, here you can control the types of WhatsApp notifications that you want to receive on your phone.
4- Make sure that the option to restrict background data is not checked:
All phones have a number of settings that allow you to track internet data usage over cellular networks. Within these settings, there is a setting called (Background Data Limit) that we generally use to reduce data usage and when running the WhatsApp application program, this application will prevent data from being used when running in the background, so you may not see WhatsApp notifications.
To turn off background data option in WhatsApp, you can follow these steps:
- Press and hold the WhatsApp app icon.
- Click on the (Application Information) option.
- Click on Data usage options and make sure that background data is not enabled.
5- Log out of WhatsApp Web:
If you are using WhatsApp Web on your computer or in the desktop app, all notifications may appear directly on your computer instead of the mobile app. To solve this problem, please log out of WhatsApp Web as follows:
- Access the WhatsApp application on your phone.
- Click on the three dots icon in the upper right corner and then click on the option to associate devices.
- Click on the linked devices one by one and then click on the Disconnect option.
6- Disable power saving mode:
We usually use the battery saver mode in mobile phones to save battery life, because it automatically limits the work of background applications, but affects the work of applications, including the WhatsApp application. So if you are having issues with WhatsApp notifications, go turn off battery saver.
