Animated GIFs have become a staple of the internet and can be found on social media, messaging platforms, and more. They are often used to express feelings, communicate ideas, or just for a good laugh.
Because GIFs are so short, they load quickly and play automatically, so you can instantly and easily communicate what you want to convey to your audience. Anyone can convert a video into a GIF using an app designed for this purpose, but if you have an iPhone or iPad, you can quickly and easily convert a video into a GIF using the Shortcuts app built into those devices, I'll explain how it works:
How to convert videos to GIFs on iPhone and iPad
To convert videos to GIFs on iPhone and iPad, open the Shortcuts app and follow these steps:
- Go to the gallery tab and type (Video to GIF) in the search box and click on the shortcut that appears in the search results and click on the Add Shortcut button.
- Go to the My Shortcuts tab and launch the shortcut by clicking on the card with its name on it.
- You will see a list of videos in your device gallery that you can convert to GIFs.
- Select a video to convert to a GIF.
- If the selected video is too long, you will be asked to trim a part of it by dragging the edges of the video. Then click (Save) to save.
- The video will be displayed as a GIF file, tap the share button given below and select to save the image or share the GIF using any of the apps available on your device.
- When you're done recording or sharing, tap Done.
If you need more options when creating GIFs, you can use a dedicated GIF maker app like GIPHY. This is a free app on the App Store for iPhone and iPad users that includes additional options for creating GIFs such as: b. Stickers and effects that can be added to these files.
