Today, at its annual Google Game Developers Conference, Google announced the global launch of Google Play Game Services for PC, allowing Android users to enjoy their favorite games on their Windows PC.
The company said the service will be available in Europe and Japan, with plans to expand to other markets around the world in the coming months. Google announced the service in beta form last year, initially available in Hong Kong, Taiwan and South Korea.
Google Play Games for PC allows players to sync their phone and PC with their Google account wherein the user can continue playing on PC where they left off on the phone and vice versa. Google works with game developers to improve gaming experiences on PC, and the service performs continuous security reviews of all games available on the platform to ensure they are safe and free of malware.
Google offers players the opportunity to earn points that can be used to purchase items offered by different games or to purchase subscriptions required for specific games.
Google says it is introducing a number of features that will make it easier for developers to submit their games within the service, as developers can upload their games directly to the platform without any special modifications that were previously required. The company has also launched an emulator that developers can use to find and fix bugs before releasing their games on the platform.
Finally, Google claims to have developed services that are compatible with screens of all shapes and sizes, including desktops, laptops, tablets, and foldable devices. He said that the games provided by the platform are compatible with all devices, and game developers do not need to make any special changes to support different screens.
Users can try out the service by downloading its app on a Windows device.
