Xiaomi has launched lightweight augmented reality glasses with high-resolution images

Today, Monday, Xiaomi unveiled a prototype augmented reality glasses as part of its presence at Mobile World Congress 2023 in Barcelona, Spain, joining the ranks of technology companies with a strong presence in the promising future of mixed reality. technology.

The Chinese technology company said that the prototype of the glasses, called (Xiaomi Wireless AR Glasses Discovery Edition), weighs 126 grams and is equipped with a high-resolution screen.

Xiaomi explained that the glasses use a pair of MicroLED screens with a brightness of up to 1,200 lumens and two prisms that direct light towards the user's eyes to reproduce the image.

With a viewing angle of 60 pixels per degree, the human eye can no longer distinguish individual pixels, the company says. The good thing about the glasses is that they offer a pixel count of 58, which means the images are very clear. Electrochromic lenses are used to adjust exposure in different lighting conditions.

With just one tap via NFC technology, the Mi AR glasses can be wirelessly connected to a smartphone, which must be a Mi 13 series, or any phone that supports Qualcomm's (Snapdragon Spaces) mixed reality development platform, such as: (One Plus 11) . According to Xiaomi, the latency between the glasses and the mobile phone is no more than 50ms.

Xiaomi's augmented reality glasses use the Qualcomm platform (Snapdragon XR 2 Gen 1) with the platform (Snapdragon Spaces) to run many applications. Note that the Meta Quest Pro mixed reality glasses released last year use the same chip.

The company said that the augmented reality glasses allow users to view content from applications such as TikTok and YouTube using the Mi Share platform application submission feature. Users can rely on gestures to move the screen of the glasses and even interact with real-world smart objects connected to the Internet. For example, users can turn smart lights or TVs on or off with hand gestures.

It should be noted that although augmented reality glasses are not yet available to consumers, commercial competition between companies continues, such as (OPPO) last year in China (Air Glasses 2) Air Glasses 2 during the Mobile World Congress MWC 2023 Superior.

For years, attention has focused on Apple's upcoming mixed reality glasses, with many rumors and leaks about them, with rumors that Apple intends to unveil them at its annual WWDC 2023 developer conference in June.

It should be noted that Xiaomi presented a variety of products at this event, including: (Mi 13 Pro) a phone with a 1-inch camera, (Mi 13) mobile phone, (Mi 13 lite) Mi 13 lite. The company also announced Mi Buds 4 Pro wireless headphones, Mi Watch S1 smartwatch and Mi Electric Scooter 4.
