Meta, the developer of the Whatsapp messaging app, is testing a new feature that allows users to save messages that disappear before they are automatically deleted. According to Wabetainfo, this feature is in the beta version of the app, which indicates that WhatsApp is ready to support the feature in an upcoming official update.
In 2020, WhatsApp introduced the auto-disappear feature, an option for individual and group chats that allows messages to be deleted automatically after a set period of time ranging from 24 hours to 90 days. This option is useful for those who want more privacy and confidentiality, or for those who prefer to delete old messages and save disk space because they are not needed.
The new function tested by WhatsApp is called (Save disappearing messages automatically) and allows users to activate an option that allows saving disappearing messages to return to them later so that they can be accessed from the menu parameters.
It should be noted that enabling the self-disappearing message backup feature in any conversation makes deleted messages accessible to all interlocutors, not just the user who enabled it.
Users can try the new feature by subscribing to the WhatsApp beta program, but note that this does not guarantee that it will appear to all users as it appears to be activated randomly for a limited number of users.
In particular, a report published yesterday talks about testing a feature that allows users of the application to upload up to 100 photos in a single post, among many other new features.
