Telegram announced on Friday that it will release its first update of 2023 with 10 key features such as a selfie tool, emoji categories, and full chat translation.
The news service says it's now possible to turn any animated sticker or emoji into a profile picture for an account, group or channel. All users can use animated or custom emojis for these photos even if they don't have a premium Telegram subscription.
You can set or suggest avatars for other contacts by editing contact information on Telegram.
Premium users can now translate entire conversations, groups, and channels in real time by clicking the Translate button on the top bar. The Options menu allows you to hide the bar, control the language to be translated, and all users can translate individual messages by selecting and clicking Translate.
Detailed pie charts of Wi-Fi and mobile data show how much data Telegram is consuming, and auto-download settings can be adjusted to a user's data package.
Telegram says it can now determine when media is automatically saved to the Photos library based on the size, type, and conversations of incoming media. This list now also supports exceptions that specify which backups should only be backed up.
Admins can now choose from 9 types of media that group members are allowed to broadcast, ie b. Picture, audio or video messages. You can also turn off text messages so that the group is media only.
Telegram also announced annual premium subscriptions, which allow users to save up to 40% on a Telegram Premium subscription by paying in advance for a year of exclusive benefits.
Bot developers can now add special buttons that help users pre-select groups, channels, or people who meet certain criteria. For example, this feature can be used to quickly add a bot to any group where the user moderates or opens a topic.
Telegram said that users who are signed out can quickly sign back in with an Apple or Google account without having to enter an activation code sent via SMS. Always required when two-step password verification is enabled.
As usual, Telegram also announced 10 new custom stickers in the new update. Each of these packs can be browsed and added directly in the new Popular section at the top of the emoji panel.
