Samsung uses artificial intelligence to reproduce your voice to answer the call

Samsung announced a new update to its assistant (Bixby) on Wednesday that improves the user experience, performance, and features of smart assistants.

The Korean tech giant said in a blog post that the new update has greatly improved Bixby's voice recognition capability, giving people more control over their mobile experience.

Samsung provides Bixby Text Call feature in UB UI 5, but the initial release of this feature is limited to Korea. This feature now supports the English language on the company's phone with the UI 5.1 user interface.

It should be noted that the text call feature can convert your voice call into a text conversation. You can read and reply to text chat through text chat and the smart assistant uses text-to-voice to convert it into voice calls. In this way, it is similar to the Google Screen Call feature.

This function is very useful in an environment where you cannot answer the call with a voice, especially in a noisy environment, you cannot hear the calls and speech clearly, or in a quiet environment, you should not disturb the people around you.

In this function, Bixby smart assistant can learn to simulate your voice, record a few sentences with your voice, and then systematically simulate your voice through artificial intelligence. However, Bixby Custom Voice Creator only supports Korea.

Samsung also said in the post that users can now use custom words to call up Bixby smart assistants. Previously, call words were limited to HI, Bixby, or Bixby. However, after the new update, users can choose any words or phrases to call up the smart assistants.

Also, with the new update, Bixby is getting smarter to understand the context of different apps. For example, you can request to start exercise lessons from the Samsung Health app, then request a workout audio file so that the AI chooses the right one for the type of workout you're doing.

Noting that most modern cloud-based AI systems have raised privacy concerns, Samsung said Bixby can run some common commands completely offline.

This includes setting timers, taking screenshots, turning on the flashlight, and listening to AI voice, which can also be used offline. Currently supported: English, Spanish, French, Italian, German and Korean.
