Mozilla, the maker of the Firefox browser, has announced three new add-ons for its version of the app for Android phones. New features provide useful services that users enjoy every day while surfing the Internet.
It includes an add-on that hides users' real email addresses on websites, one that cleans and shortens page titles, and another that automatically reads articles.
Firefox Relay - Hide email addresses
This add-on helps Firefox users hide their email addresses to protect their privacy and prevent their addresses from being attacked by spammers. This add-on provides users with features that appear when they enter their email address on any website. After downloading the add-on, there is a new option for users to replace the randomly generated addresses with actual email. As a result, the site receives a fake mailing address, to which the relay service forwards mail to the real address of the user. The feature is based on the Firefox Relay service introduced by Mozilla on the web in 2020.
ClearURL - Clean URLs before sharing
The second new addition, ClearURL, gives Firefox users the ability to clean up long URLs by removing junk extensions at the end of the URL. Users often notice long URLs when sharing web links. Some of these addresses contain code that allows websites to track user activity and collect relevant information. This problem can be solved by simply removing the characters that are automatically appended to post URLs, which the extension automatically handles on behalf of the user.
ReadAloud - Read text automatically
This add-on uses automatic text-to-speech technology to listen to written articles instead of reading them in Firefox. According to Mozilla, it supports reading text from different types of websites, such as news sites, blogs, book sites, schools, and universities. Users can choose between a male or female voice and adjust the playback speed.
Users can download add-ons for Firefox on Android by going to the main Firefox menu, clicking on the Add-ons option and searching for the name of the add-on.
