Microsoft said that after installing the November 2022 cumulative update, applications that use the DirectX API will encounter an issue that prevents them from running on Windows systems that have drivers for older Intel graphics chips.
The US software giant said that users of affected systems will see apphelp.dll errors for the so-called Application Compatibility Agent Library for applications that use (DirectX) due to an outdated driver for (Intel Graphics) Intel Graphics.
"You may receive apphelp.dll error messages on Windows devices that use Intel graphics chipset driver versions 26.20.100.7463 through 30.0.101.1190," Microsoft explained. And she added: “This problem can occur from time to time. It occurs and affects applications that use (Direct X) or (Direct 3D) to manage some or all of their content.”
The list of affected operating systems includes Server OS: Windows Service 2022, PC OS: Windows 11 Edition 2022, Windows 10 Edition 2022, Windows 11 Edition 2021, Windows 10 Edition 2021, Windows 10 Edition 2020 (Windows 10 Enterprise LTSC 2019).
Microsoft is working hard to fix any newly discovered issues and will release updates in future versions of the operating system.
According to Microsoft, until an update arrives to fix the problem, affected customers can temporarily resolve the issue by updating their (Intel graphics) drivers to the latest versions.
Microsoft added in an update to the (Windows Health) panel: "To mitigate this issue, you can install the Intel Graphics Driver, version 30.0.101.1190." The latest version of the driver (Intel Graphics) that your device supports. "
If users cannot download updates directly from the device manufacturer, they can also check the list of drivers (Intel Graphics) and install the latest driver from Intel.
It should be noted that a year ago, Microsoft fixed an issue in the kernel component (DirectX) that was causing the Windows 11 blue screen of death.
Last month, Microsoft also fixed a bug that was causing the Remote Desktop app to crash after installing Windows 11, version 2022, and shared a temporary solution to an issue that caused the Start menu to become unresponsive and some apps to stop working.
