The Chinese company Huawei launched the Huawei Watch Buds, a smart watch with wireless headphones, to the global market after it was announced in China late last year.
The watch is unique in the world of smartwatches in that it can be opened from the top to access the wireless headphones stored inside, a way for users to store the headphones while they charge when not in use.
The watch features a 1.43 inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 466 x 466 pixels. The body of the watch is made of stainless steel, the bracelet is made of leather, it comes in two colors of black and brown, and the width is 22 mm.
Watch Buds support heart rate monitoring, SpO2 and sleep, stress management, heart rate for atrial fibrillation, and ECG readings.
The watch offers 80 sports modes and weighs about 66.5 grams, while the headphones weigh 4 grams each. However, due to the opening mechanism, the watch is not waterproof, while the headphones are water and dust resistant according to the IP54 standard.
The Watch Buds software run Huawei Hongmeng OS 3 and Bluetooth 5.2. The company claims up to three days of battery life with the headphones on, which is decent battery life compared to smartwatches or Apple Watches running Google's operating system (Android Wear), but comparable to other Hongmeng-equipped Huawei phones. The hours are the comparative OS, the duration is shorter, and the duration is about 14 days.
The wireless headphones last for 4 hours of uninterrupted audio playback or 2.5 hours of talk time with noise cancellation off. It may take about 100 minutes to fully charge the headset via the magnetic charger.
Huawei placed initial orders for the watch in Europe at around £450, and it's expected to hit other global markets soon.
