If you use Gmail for email correspondence on your phone or computer, you must be aware of the Undo Send feature, which allows you to undo sending an email within 5 seconds of sending it by clicking the (send) button in the Gmail app or desktop.
This feature is useful if you forgot to attach a file to an email or realize you misspelled someone's name or word after clicking the send button.
The steps below describe how to undo an email in Gmail, and we'll also show you how to increase the send undo time beyond 5 seconds.
To unsubscribe from Gmail emails:
To use the Do Not Send feature in Gmail, follow these steps:
- When you're done composing your Gmail email, click the Send button.
- Immediately after clicking the "Submit" button, a notification with the "Cancel" button will appear at the bottom of the screen. Click on it.
- Your original message appears again so you can make changes.
How to extend the no-send period in Gmail:
By default, Gmail gives you five seconds to undo a send, but you can increase this time to 30 seconds to give yourself more time to fix errors by following these steps:
1. Access the desktop version of Gmail.
2. Click the gear icon in the upper right corner to access the settings.
3. Click the "View all settings" button.
4. Find the line containing the Undo Send option.
5. Click on the drop-down menu that appears next to the Send notification period option and select 5, 10, 20, or 30 seconds.
7. Scroll down the page and click the Save Changes button.
If you're using the Gmail app or the desktop version, Undo Send works the same way, but you can extend the period during which Undo Send is only available with the desktop version.
