Many people use the Google Maps app on their phones to send their current location to others, get directions to specific destinations, download maps, and more. However, sometimes the Google Maps app may stop working or not work properly on Android phones.
This can have various reasons, for example b. Buffering issues or using an outdated version of the Google Maps app.
If you are facing the issue of Google Maps not working on your Android phone, you can try the following methods to fix the issue:
1- Activate the position accuracy function:
Location accuracy issues are the most common reason why Google Maps may not work properly. But if you turn on location accuracy, the Maps app can pinpoint your exact location. The methods are as follows:
- Launch the Google Maps app on your Android phone.
- Click your account picture in the upper right corner of the screen.
- Click on the Settings option from the menu and then click on the Google Site Settings option.
- Click Options (Location Services) Location Services
- Next, click on the Google location accuracy option and enable the option to increase location accuracy.
2- Disable the mode (Wi-Fi only):
If you turn on (Wi-Fi only) mode in the Google Maps app, the map will only update with new data when you're connected to a Wi-Fi network. If you are using mobile data, Google Maps will not update your current location.
To fix this, turn off the (Wi-Fi only) option in the Maps app by following these steps:
- Open the Google Maps app on your Android phone, then tap your profile picture and select (Settings).
- Disable the option (Wi-Fi only).
- Close Settings, then go back to the main map screen and check that the app is working properly.
3- Check your internet connection:
Google Maps requires the Internet to download and update maps. If you are having trouble stopping apps, your phone may have a slow or no internet connection.
And make sure there is a problem with the cellular network, try another app, if it is normal then there is no problem with the network, then try restarting the phone, then try Google Maps.
On the other hand, Google Maps may be down for everyone. To be sure, you can visit the Google Maps Platform Status Dashboard page.
4- Clear cache and data for Google Maps:
One of the reasons why Google Maps has stopped working is because of the cache, which is some temporary data that the Maps app stores on your phone. While this speeds up your application's performance, this data can accumulate over time and cause issues with your application.
To fix this problem, you can clear cached app data, which will not delete the Maps app from your phone. To clear the card data:
- Go to the Settings app on your Android phone.
- Click on the Apps & notifications option and then click on the See all apps option.
- Select (Maps) Maps from the list of applications.
- On the Map page, click Storage and Caching options.
- Click on Clear cache option and then click on Clear data option.
- Restart the Maps app and make sure it works.
5- Update the Google Maps application:
New versions of the app include fixes for bugs and issues found in older versions. If you are using an older version of the Maps app, this may be the reason why Google Maps has stopped working on your phone.
Android phones automatically update all installed apps unless you turn off automatic updates. You can also update the map manually by searching for the Google Maps app in the Google Store and clicking on the update option. Then restart the app and make sure it works.
