1- Restart the computer:
The first step that you can try to fix Google Chrome not starting is to restart your computer. This can help fix some minor computer issues that could be causing this problem.
2- End the task in Chrome browser using the task manager:
If restarting your computer does not solve the problem, you can use the task manager to end all tasks in Google Chrome as follows:
- Click the keys on your keyboard (Ctrl, Shift, and Esc) to open the Task Manager.
- On the Processes tab, find any running tasks.
- Right-click on a task, select (End task) and repeat the process for the remaining tasks.
- After that, try restarting Google Chrome.
3-Temporarily disable your antivirus or firewall:
Sometimes your antivirus or firewall can prevent Google Chrome from running. If so, you can try to disable it for a short while to see what is wrong. However, be careful because disabling your antivirus puts your computer at risk.
Follow these steps to disable your antivirus:
- Click the Start button and search for Windows Security.
- Select (Virus & threat protection) on the right.
- In the Virus & threat protection settings section, click Manage settings.
- Disable real-time protection.
After completing the above steps, close the window and restart your computer, then open Chrome browser and check if the problem is resolved.
4- Run the compatibility troubleshooter:
If the same problem persists and you are unable to start Google Chrome, you can run the compatibility troubleshooter to reset Google Chrome settings. This will identify and fix any compatibility issues that may be preventing your browser from working.
To run this tool, you can follow these steps:
- Right-click the Chrome shortcut on the taskbar.
- Right-click Chrome in the context menu and select Properties
- In the Properties window, switch to the Compatibility tab.
- Then click the Run the compatibility troubleshooter button.
- Follow the onscreen instructions to complete the process.
After completing the above steps, try restarting Google Chrome.
5- Reinstall Google Chrome:
Sometimes, some files that are required to run Google Chrome can get corrupted, making it unusable or preventing it from working altogether. In these cases, reinstalling Google Chrome can help to replace the corrupted files.
Follow the steps below to reinstall Google Chrome:
- Click the (Win and I) buttons on the keyboard to open the settings menu.
- In the Windows Settings app, click Apps and select Installed apps.
- Locate Google Chrome in the list of installed applications.
