How to fix ChatGPT has stopped working on Windows PC

ChatGPT is a very popular chatbot used by millions of people including teachers, lawyers, programmers, and content creators. However, sometimes the bot stops terminating the chat and shows you a warning (ChatGPT is currently fully functional). This may be due to a significant increase in users at that time or it may be due to a specific problem with the Windows PC you are using. Here are some things you can try to fix ChatGPT has stopped working on your Windows PC:

1- Temporarily stop using the ChatGPT bot:

As mentioned, due to the influx of users at that time, there may be some alerts (ChatGPT is currently busy), which will put more pressure on the ChatGPT servers. To solve this problem, temporarily stop using ChatGPT and try again.

2- Check ChatGPT server status:

If the ChatGPT server is under maintenance, the ChatGPT bot may terminate the conversation and display the same warning. For added security, open the DownDetector website in your browser, type (OpenAI) in the search bar and click the search icon.

If the reported problems increase significantly, it is likely that there is a problem with the server. In this case, you have to wait for OpenAI to fix the problem.

If DownDetector reports that ChatGPT servers are stable, the problem is most likely caused by the browser cache.

3- Clear browser cache data:

Another effective way to fix ChatGPT has stopped working is to clear your browser's cache data. If you are using Google Chrome, you can clear cached data as follows:

  1. Open Chrome browser, click on the three dots that appear in the upper right corner and select (Settings) Settings from the menu that appears.
  2. Select Privacy & Security from the bar on the left.
  3. Click on the option (clear browsing data).
  4. Select the (Cookies and other site data) option and the (Cached images and files) option, then click (Clear data) to clear the data.
  5. After clearing the cached data, restart your Chrome browser and try to use the ChatGPT bot again.

4- Remove unwanted plugins:

Some extensions interfere with the operation of the browser and cause various problems. For example, you can find and remove them in Chrome by following these steps:

  1. Open Chrome browser and click on the three dots that appear in the upper right corner.
  2. Click More Tools and then click Extensions.
  3. Disable all add-ons and enable them one by one until the problem occurs again. After selecting the respective add-on, click on the Remove button in the add-on section.

5- Use incognito mode:

Another way to fix ChatGPT has stopped working is to switch your browser to incognito mode.

To switch to incognito mode in Chrome and Edge browsers, press the keys (Ctrl, SHIFT and N) after opening the browser. If you are using Firefox browser, first open the browser and press the keys (Ctrl, SHIFT and P).

6- Reset network settings:

Incorrect network settings can also be the reason why ChatGPT stops working. To fix this problem, you can reset network settings in Windows 11 to default settings by following these steps:

  1. Click the (Win + I) button to open the Settings application.
  2. Select Network and Internet on the left.
  3. Select the Advanced Network Settings option.
  4. In the More settings section, select Network reset.
  5. Click the reset now button next to the network reset option

7- Use a different browser:

Sometimes the problem can come from the browser itself. If you have tried all the above solutions and still not working, try another browser and start using ChatGPT bot.
