Microsoft Store allows you to install various applications on your Windows PC. If you use it to install applications, you may encounter problems and warnings that it cannot be installed (This application could not be installed). This can happen with a specific app or with all the apps you are trying to download.
Below we explain 5 ways to fix the problem that apps from Microsoft Store cannot be installed on your Windows PC:
1- Run the Microsoft Store Troubleshooter:
You can use this troubleshooter to quickly fix common Microsoft Store issues. This Windows troubleshooter finds and fixes problems that prevent Microsoft Store apps from being installed.
To use the Microsoft Store troubleshooter, follow these steps:
- Press (Win + I) key to open Settings
- Click on the System tab, scroll down and click Troubleshoot.
- Click Troubleshooting Additional.
- Scroll down and select the option (Windows Store Apps) and then click the Play button. The troubleshooter will then run a troubleshooting scan and recommend an appropriate solution.
- Apply the fixes suggested by the troubleshooter and then try downloading the app from the App Store again.
2- Reset the Microsoft Store cache using the WSReset tool:
The Windows Store Reset (WSReset) tool built into Windows can clear or reset the Windows Store cache. Resetting the Store cache can fix temporary issues that prevent you from installing apps from the Microsoft Store.
Reset Windows Store app cache; Follow the following steps:
- Press the Win key and type wsreset in the search box.
- Click on the (wsreset - run command) option. This will open a black Windows App Store cache reset window. Then the screen turns off automatically and the store opens.
- Close Microsoft Store and restart it and try downloading the app again.
3- Run the Microsoft Store Installer service:
The Microsoft Store Installer Service provides support for the Microsoft Store. If this service is disabled, you may not be able to install apps from the Store, which will result in a “This app could not be installed” message.
To troubleshoot apps that are not installed, check if this service is running. If not, you can open it manually by following these steps:
1- Press the keys (Win + R) to open the Run tool.
2- Type (services.msc) and click OK
3- Click on the Services option and select the Microsoft Store Installer Service option.
4- Right-click on the (Microsoft Store Installer Service) option and select (Properties).
5- In the dialog box that appears on the screen, select the (Manual) option in the (Startup type) section if the (Disabled) option is the previously selected option.
6- Click the Apply button and the OK button to save the changes.
7- Next, right-click on (Microsoft Store Install Services) and choose the Restart option.
8- Close the window and launch the Microsoft Store to try to install the app that failed to install.
4- Use the Microsoft Store Repair Tool:
You can use the repair tools built into Windows to fix common issues that might prevent the Microsoft Store from installing apps. To do this, follow these steps:
- Press (Win + I) key to open Settings.
- Open the Applications tab on the left.
- Click Installed apps.
- Then find the Microsoft Store.
- Click the three dots button and select Advanced
- Scroll down to the Reset section.
- Click Repair and wait for the process to complete.
- Once the repair process is complete, restart the Microsoft Store and try to install the app again
5- Manually reset the Microsoft Store:
You can manually reset the Microsoft Store to fix app installation issues. However, this option will delete all data related to the Microsoft Store and you may need to sign in to your account to use the Microsoft Store again.
To reset the Microsoft Store:
- Press (Win + I) key to open Settings.
- Open the Applications tab on the left.
- Click Installed apps.
- Then find the Microsoft Store.
- Click the three dots button and select Advanced
- Scroll down to the Reset section.
- Click Reset and then click the Reset button again to confirm the action.
- When the reset is complete, a checkmark will appear next to the reset button.
After that, launch the Microsoft Store, sign in to your account and try to install the app again.
