Occasionally, you may notice an important message in your email in the Gmail app, but you don't get a notification that the message has been delivered. It's possible that Gmail didn't prioritize this message and not notify you when it arrived because Gmail's default notification settings apply to priority email.
However, you can customize Gmail app notifications on Android phones and iPhones to notify them of all incoming emails. We explain how this works below:

There is a setting in the Gmail app that allows you to configure the type of emails that notify you when an email arrives. This setting has three options: All, High priority only, and None.
As mentioned earlier, the default setting allows Gmail to notify you only for high-priority messages, but this setting prevents Gmail from receiving notifications for messages without a set priority. If it is important for you not to miss an email, change the notification setting to Everyone. To do this, follow these steps:
- Open the Gmail app on your iPhone or Android phone.
- Click the three-line menu button in the upper-left corner of the page.
- Scroll down and tap on the Settings option.
- Select the name of the Gmail account whose notification settings you want to change.
- In the (Alerts) tab, there is an option called (Email Alerts).
- Click this option and a popup will appear with three options: All, High Priority Only, and None. If you're using an iPhone, you'll find an additional (Basic only) option.
- Click on all options.
- With this option enabled, you will notice more notifications from the Gmail app.

If you want to avoid the influx of email notifications that can occur after changing your notification settings to Everyone, you can change the setting back to High Priority Only. In this case, you can review important emails or messages from important contacts to indicate that they are private or important. This makes Gmail more likely to notify you when it receives a message similar to your important one. To do this, follow these steps:
- Open the Gmail app and check your email for important messages or messages from important contacts.
- Mark this important email by clicking the empty star outline to the left of the email header.
- Keep scrolling through your inbox and keep track of all the emails from your VIP contacts who need frequent email notifications.
Another way to mark certain incoming emails as important in the Gmail app is to make it more likely that you'll get notified when similar emails arrive. To use this method, follow these steps:
- Open the Gmail app and long press to select the type of email you want to be notified about.
- Click the three-dot menu button in the upper-right corner.
- You will see a list with many options, click on the option (marked as important)
If you're looking for emails to forward or mark as important, you can narrow your search by department. Gmail divides emails into: simple email, promotional email, and social email. Your use of these sections depends on the type of email you receive.
You probably don't need to dig into the Actions section and mark it as important like most ads. Depending on your priorities, you may want to receive notifications on specific posts categorized as social networks, eg b. Publications from social networks such as LinkedIn.
Keep scrolling through your inbox to highlight emails with notifications you've missed in the past. Once you mark them as important, Gmail can notify you when you receive similar emails without changing the default notification setting to All.
