Many people use ChatGPT chatbots to perform various tasks such as: b. Writing emails, debugging code, etc. If you are just starting out and want to keep track of your chats with a ChatGPT bot to see how its responses change over time, or that the responses you get want to share with others, here is how to find, save and share your ChatGPT bot dialogue history:
1- How to save ChatGPT conversations:
All ChatGPT chat history is automatically saved in the chat interface, and you don't need to manually save the chat history. To access all your previously saved ChatGPT conversations, follow these steps:
- Log in to GPT chat.
- Click the three-line menu button to open the sidebar.
- You will see a list of all your previous chats with ChatGPT.
- Select the conversations you want to repeat, continue by asking follow-up questions, or add entirely new questions to the conversation thread.
Previous conversations are automatically saved with the name of the first request you made to the ChatGPT bot in this conversation. You can manually change the name of any chat by following these steps:
- Open the conversation whose name you want to change. You'll see one with a pencil icon next to its name and another with a trash can icon in the sidebar.
- Click the pencil icon, type a new name for the conversation, and press Enter.
You can also delete conversations by clicking on the trash can icon. To start a new conversation thread, click on the New conversation button that appears at the top of the left sidebar.
2- How to share ChatGPT conversations:
ChatGPT does not yet have built-in sharing features. If you want to share your conversation, you can select and copy text with your cursor by clicking the button (Ctrl and C) on Windows, Linux and ChromeOS computers or click the button (Command and C).
After you copy a conversation, you can paste it somewhere else on your computer, eg b. In an email or document that you've shared with others. Collaboration in ChatGPT conversations is not currently supported, so you cannot invite other people to your ChatGPT discussions.
ChatGPT is still relatively poor in the overall functionality of other applications, such as b. a class. On the other hand, the ability to save conversations hasn't been there since ChatGPT launched, so similar improvements will likely appear in the future.
Does ChatGPT save all data automatically?
ChatGPT saves all data automatically, and in addition to providing your chat history in your account, OpenAI also has access to this information. OpenAI states in (ChatGPT FAQ) the general FAQ about ChatGPT:
“As part of our commitment to safe and responsible AI, we review conversations to improve our systems and ensure content meets our safety policies and requirements.”
Additionally, your conversations with the chatbot will be used to improve future responses. OpenAI's privacy policy states that the service records just about everything. This includes personal information you have provided, sessions and metadata such as: IP address, browser and device you are using, etc.
