Apple's Reminders is a simple app available on iPhones and other Apple devices. It can be used to create task reminders or list the tasks you need to do today or in the next few days. You can also add tasks to the app using Siri, the voice assistant.
But its use is not limited to that, it also has many hidden features that are worth trying, such as adding location-based task reminders, sharing reminder lists with others, converting them to PDFs, etc. Below we mention 5 hidden features in Apple Reminders Application and how to use it:
1- Set reminders based on location:
The Reminders app allows you to add location-based reminders for specific tasks, for example: you can add a reminder to read a book when you get home, or to check your email when you get to work.
Follow the steps below to use this feature:
- Open an app and tap on the "New reminder" option that appears at the bottom left.
- Click on the location icon and choose from options such as Home, To Work, or Custom.
- For the first and second options that appear in the application, go to personalization (contacts), then press the (My Card) option and add your home and work addresses.
2- Create a smart list:
If you use Reminders frequently, you need a faster way to organize your tasks. You can create smart to-do lists based on specific items, and the app will automatically add all future reminders with the same items to that list.
Follow the steps below to use this feature:
- Click the Add List button and choose Create Smart List.
- Set multiple filters such as (Label), (Date), (Priority), and (List).
- Click the Done button and the smart menu will be added under the menu section.
3- Sharing tasks with others:
Any list in Reminders can easily be turned into a shared list by sharing it with others. To do this, follow these steps:
- Select a list in the Reminders app
- Click the share button and send the invite via the messaging app or any messaging app on your phone.
- After accepting the invitation, you can assign the task to anyone on the list using the Assign option in the reminder details screen.
4-Save the list as a PDF:
Convert any reminder list into an easy-to-print PDF file. This feature is useful when you need to distribute printouts of your to-do list to a group of people or colleagues, as the printed list includes boxes to indicate completed tasks, just like in the app.
To convert your list of reminders to a PDF file in the Reminders app, follow these steps:
- Open any reminder list saved in the Reminders app.
- Click the three-dot menu button and choose Print.
- Click the Share button that appears in the upper right corner and choose Save to File to save it to the Files app, or you can split the PDF using the Messages app or another app message.
5-Convert a list into a reusable template:
With the release of iOS 16, Apple added a new feature to the Reminders app that turns any reminder list into a reusable or shareable template.
Suppose you have a list of certain trips or a list of recurring events at work. To start creating a listing for an event or visit, click on the three dots button and select Save as Template.
The next time you want to use it again, go to the Add List option, click on the Templates tab and select the template you saved earlier.
To share a form, click the menu button next to the template name and select Share Template.
