Samsung introduces new high-performance hard drives |
Samsung has announced that it is ready to produce high-performance PCIe 4.0 NVMe SSDs.
And the company said that it is equipped with a new controller based on advanced 5-nanometer process technology from Samsung and the seventh generation of flash memory (V-NAND), and the device (PM9C1a) will provide superior performance in computing tasks as well as in PC and laptop games. .
“As part of our commitment to developing cutting-edge storage technologies that meet new and changing market needs while continuing to drive innovation in solid-state drives (SSDs), the new PM9C1a drive delivers a combination of superior performance with increased power efficiency and a security attribute that PC users value.”
The PM9C1a SSD delivers blazing speeds, making it ideal for everyday use and capable of handling the most demanding computing and gaming applications.
Thanks to the PCIe 4.0 user interface, the Samsung PM9C1a is 1.6 times faster at sequential reading and 1.8 times faster at sequential writing than the previous drive (PM9B1), with read speeds of up to 6,000MB/s and write speeds of up to 5,600MB/s. Additionally, random read and write speeds support up to 900,000 and 1 million inserts per second, respectively.
The PM9C1a is also 70% more energy efficient per watt than the previous model, meaning the new hard drive can handle the same number of tasks while using less power. In addition, the new hard drive consumes 10% less power when the laptop is in sleep mode.
On the other hand, the new PM9C1a has a high level of security to meet the growing security needs as the new engine supports the Hardware Identification Engine (DICE) security standard developed by the Trusted Computing Group (TCG), an international organization that supports it. Committed to developing open standards for IT security.
The DICE standard generates secure encryption keys on disk and enables device identification to prevent supply chain and enterprise cyberattacks through vulnerabilities in supplier networks and to prevent firmware tampering.
Samsung PM9C1a SSD offers storage capacities: 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB Specifications (M.2) for internal expansion in various sizes: 22mm x 30mm, 22mm x 42mm, 22mm x 80mm.
