Samsung announces the world's first OLED mobile screen with 2,000 lumens of brightness

Samsung Display announced its first smartphone display (OLED) with a brightness of up to 2000 nits at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES 2023).

The South Korean tech giant said in a statement that it has acquired a brand of this brightness, dubbed Ultra Dynamic Range (UDR), from global safety science company (UL Solutions).

Samsung Display added that it had received the (UDR 1500) and (UDR 2000) marks for (OLED) screens used in smartphones, and since the (UDR) mark refers to screen brightness, the screens that Samsung obtained this mark are certified to provide 1500 lumens or 2000 lumens. brightness.

With the advent of Ultra High Definition (UHD) content, range and the ability to maintain screen brightness has become one of the most important indicators of performance for monitors. Samsung's high-brightness display shows more realistic picture quality and richer color experience, which increases the enjoyment of use.

In addition, the brightness of smartphone screens is more important than the brightness of televisions, desktop computers, and laptops, since smartphones are subject to heavy use both indoors and outdoors. To improve screen visibility when using smartphones in daylight, Samsung Display has optimized screen brightness while maintaining energy efficiency and organic materials.

“Screen brightness is a factor that has a significant impact on consumer experience in terms of smartphone picture quality and performance,” said Hwang Lee, Head of Product Planning Team for Small and Medium Screens at Samsung Display. “With superior technology and hands-on experience in this field (OLED), Samsung Display will continue to lead the market with premium products backed by consumer-centric technology,” he added.

It should be noted that Samsung announced at CES 2023 a new version of screen display technology (QD-OLED) that supports advanced optimization algorithms (IntelliSense AI) and new materials (OLED HyperEfficient EL) that improve the color of any screen. Display color spectrum (RGB). As a result, the maximum combined RGB color light output exceeds 2000 nits for stunning picture quality.
