Motorola announces the ThinkPhone which mimics Lenovo computers |
Motorola on Thursday announced that it has teamed up with Lenovo, its parent company, to launch ThinkPhone, a new business smartphone.
The announcement of the phone comes during the presence of Lenovo and Motorola at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES 2023), which is currently being held in Las Vegas, USA, and the phone has been widely announced in the past.
As the name suggests, the ThinkPhone is designed in the style of the ThinkPad X1 Carbon, Lenovo's popular line of laptops.
To make the phone durable, the back is made of lightweight aramid fibers, the screen is protected by a layer of Gorilla Glass Victus, and the frame is made of aircraft-grade aluminum, which gives the phone a military-grade durability certification (MIL- STD810H).
Lenovo and Motorola wanted to make the ThinkPhone compatible with ThinkPad laptops not only in terms of design, but also in terms of software. Because the mobile phone can connect to the computer via the connection function (Think 2 Think) based on Motorola software (Ready for).
This feature enables features such as seamless connection between your phone and PC when they are nearby and connected over the same Wi-Fi network. Other features include push notifications, consolidated sheets, application flow, and the ability to share files by dragging and dropping between them to move the two devices.
ThinkPhone can also be used as a mobile hotspot when the computer needs to connect to the Internet via the phone, and the phone's back or front camera can be a better alternative to the computer's built-in webcam.
To increase productivity, Motorola has partnered with Microsoft to bring its suite of apps to the phone, giving users access to Microsoft 365 services, Outlook messaging service, and Teams video conferencing service.
Companies are also working on allowing users to send their Windows desktop to their phones for remote access to get work done.
To ensure user safety, ThinkPhone includes Lenovo's ThinkShield security platform as well as Motorola's AI-based security system (Moto Threat). This allows companies to easily manage devices using the Moto OEMConfig and Moto Device Manager platforms.
The phone features a distinctive red side button that users can press once to launch pre-built apps, or twice to display a menu of options for easy access.
As for the other specifications of the phone, (ThinkPhone) contains an eight-core processor (Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1), which is the processor for most major phones in 2022. The phone also contains 8 GB or 12 GB of RAM and internal storage space. 128 GB, 256 GB, or 512 GB.
The phone offers a 6.6-inch (OLED) screen with a resolution of 2400 x 1040 pixels, supports HDR10 technology, and includes a 32-megapixel front camera.
ThinkPhone (ThinkPhone) has two cameras on the back, one with a main resolution of 50 megapixels and an f / 1.8 aperture, and the other with a resolution of 13 megapixels and an f / 1.8 aperture / 2 wide angle shooting.
The phone runs on the original Android 13 operating system, giving users access to the latest privacy and security features from Google.
(ThinkPhone) supports connection to 5G networks (Sub-6 5G), Wi-Fi 6E networks, and Near Field Communication (NFC) technology. It has a 5,000mAh battery that lasts a day and a half with moderate use, and can be charged to 100% in "just a few minutes" thanks to its 68W charging technology.
Motorola didn't say anything about pricing or a release date, but said the phone will be available in the US, Europe, Latin America, the Middle East, Australia, and select Asian countries in the coming months.
