| Microsoft wants to challenge Google by integrating ChatGPT with Bing |
A report from The Information claims that Microsoft is planning to release a version of its Bing search engine that uses a popular chatbot (ChatGPT) to answer search queries.
And the site quoted two people familiar with the matter as saying that the American software giant may launch new features by the end of March next year and hopes to compete with the Google search engine.
With artificial intelligence technology used by OpenAI-developed ChatGPT, the Bing search engine can respond to user queries with more human responses than the traditional way of displaying links of information.
It should be noted that while Google and Bing do display relevant information in shared links, Google specifically displays knowledge cards that provide summaries of information users need to know when searching, particularly information about people, places, organizations, and shared items.
Microsoft previously announced in a publication last October that it would integrate imaging software from (OpenAI) known as (DALL-E 2) into the Bing search engine.
A company focused on artificial intelligence (OpenAI) solutions, based in San Francisco, California, received $1 billion in funding from Microsoft in 2019.
The two companies have entered into a multi-year partnership to develop AI-based supercomputing technology in Microsoft's (Azure) cloud computing service.
OpenAI made its chatbot (ChatGPT) available for free for public testing on November 30, allowing users to write poetry, write academic papers, emoticons, and other things that make it modern.
After the chatbot's popularity exploded and concerns were raised about its outperformance over Google, the latter responded by saying that it would not launch a competitor yet because it was "concerned about its reputation" due to issues with the bot's use, such as: bias and misinformation.
Google has used a variety of AI language models for search engine optimization for years.
