Microsoft begins mandatory Windows 11 22H2 updates


Microsoft has already started rolling out the mandatory 2022 release of Windows 11 to devices with the 2021 release set to be October 10, 2023 as the end of support date.

The American tech giant traditionally automatically releases the latest version of its operating system to ensure that devices approaching the end of support date are still well supported and provides them with the latest software updates, security fixes, and improvements.

The stage of launching automatic updates for version 2022, also known as (Windows 11 22H2), comes after it can be widely deployed today through the Windows Update feature for users who have devices eligible for the update.

"Today we're starting to update unmanaged consumer and business devices running Windows 11 Home 21H2 and Professional (Pro) to Windows 11 22H2," Microsoft said in a dashboard update.

“Since Windows 10, we've been helping Windows users update and protect supported versions of Windows with automatic updates. We're using the same approach with Windows 11 to keep you safe and productive,” the company added. Older devices (Windows 21H2).

Microsoft urges those interested in an immediate upgrade to Windows 11, version 2022, to open the Windows Update settings and select Check for Updates. When the device is ready, download and installation options will appear.

The company stated: "If we determine that your device may be experiencing issues such as compatibility, we can preemptively stop updates. In this case, the update will not be installed automatically until the issue is resolved. It will not be fixed."
