Meta puts your Facebook Instagram and Messenger settings in one place |
On Thursday, the Meta announced that it will consolidate your Facebook, Instagram, and Messenger account settings into one place with the goal of making them easier to find and manage.
The US tech giant said in a blog post that group account settings can be found in Account Center in the product settings menu.
With personal information, passwords, security, and ad settings all in one place, Meta says it will make it easier for users to manage their settings when using multiple apps. For example, it's now easy to match advertising preferences on Facebook and Instagram by adding accounts from both services to the same Account Center.
In addition to offering Ad Settings in Account Center, Meta says it's improving some controls in Ad Settings that can help users understand and manage their ad experience.
In this regard, the company said it will take steps to help users understand how the digital activities they send from other websites and apps are being used to serve the ads they see on Facebook and Instagram, and the same applies to ads served by Meta on websites, apps and other sites.
Meta has realized that users want more control over the ads they see, and said it's exploring new ways to show them ads for things they're interested in, in addition to the existing option to reduce the number of ads they see.
The company cautions that adding multiple accounts to the same account center is optional, as users can still keep their accounts in different account centers. Those who choose to do so can still access the same settings and can apply them to personal accounts as well.
Meta said the changes are effective today and will gradually roll out to all Facebook, Instagram and Messenger users over the coming months. It added that it continues to explore ways to integrate additional settings into Account Center, with the goal of allowing users to easily manage their settings across all of its products.
