Today, Wednesday, Apple unveiled the second generation of the HomePod smart speaker, which does not differ in design from the first generation product that was launched about five years ago, but has some other improvements.
The American technology giant said in a statement that the new (HomePod) supports spatial audio technology that can control smart home devices by sending voice commands to the company's smart assistant, Siri.
Apple added that the new smart speaker will be available in black and white, which is a new color made of 100% recycled mesh, and will also come with a braided power cord in a similar color to the device.
The company claims that (HomePod) "delivers incredible sound quality with deep bass and amazing high frequencies" all thanks to a high-speed amplifier specifically designed for the device, powerful drivers, a built-in mic (bass EQ), and a component bank with 5 upward-sloping speakers.
The device also supports system sensor technology, which enables advanced acoustic calculations, and room recognition technology, which analyzes sound reflections from nearby surfaces and then modifies them in real time to deliver a pure audio experience.
The device supports AirPlay technology, which allows users to play the same audio on multiple speakers, different audio on different speakers, and even use the device to send audio messages to other rooms. Users can also use two HomePod speakers in one place to create a stereo system.
According to Apple, ultra-wideband technology allows you to continue to hear what's playing on your iPhone through your smart speaker, and also easily pair with the TV platform (Apple TV 4K) for a home theater experience.
And (HomePod) allows users to search for their lost devices via the (Find My) feature, for example B: iPhone and Siri can also be used to inquire about the location of friends and lovers who want to share their location.
Using tone detection, the device can listen for smoke or carbon monoxide alarms and then send a notification directly to the user's iPhone. Built-in temperature and humidity sensors measure indoor environmental data, allowing users to create automatic commands to close the blinds. Or turn on the fan automatically when the room temperature reaches a certain temperature.
The new (HomePod) supports both (Matter) and (Thread) home device standards and can control all smart home devices that support both standards.
Confirming its commitment to protecting customer privacy, Apple said that all communications via (HomePod) are fully encrypted, and therefore the company itself has no knowledge of their content.
This new smart speaker is available to order from Apple starting today and will go on sale February 3 next year for $299.
