| Xiaomi announces its new phone Redmi Note 12 Pro Speed Edition |
Xiaomi launched the Redmi Note 12 series of mobile phones in October 2019. There are four mobile phones in total: Redmi Note 12, Redmi Note 12 Pro, Redmi Note 12 Pro + and Redmi Note 12 Discovery, which was released today for its fifth session. The new phone packs a 5,000mAh battery with the same 67W charging capacity as the Redmi Note 12 Pro, although the name suggests it charges faster.
The appearance of the Redmi Note 12 Pro Speed is also similar to the Pro version, with Redmi slightly changing the rear camera design and moving the Redmi branding from bottom to top.
The new phone looks like a Poco phone, so it is not surprising that the company is launching it under the Poco brand in select markets outside of China. It is important to note that the Pro Speed version shares dimensions and battery capacity with the Pro version, but is slightly lighter.
The two phones differ in processor and camera specifications, as the Pro version comes with a Dimensity 1080 processor and a 50-megapixel main rear camera, while the Pro Speed version comes with a Snapdragon 778G processor and a 108-megapixel main camera in the back, and it is equipped with Samsung. ISOCELL HM2 sensor without optical image stabilization. There's also a second 8MP camera for ultra-wide shots and a third 2MP camera for close-ups.
Other specifications include a 6.67-inch FHD+ 120Hz OLED screen, 16MP front camera and a fingerprint sensor in the side button. The phone supports 5G network and NFC technology.
Unlike the Redmi Note 12 Pro, which runs MIUI 13 based on Android 12, the new device runs MIUI 14 based on Android 13 and has three optional storage options: black, blue and green: 6 GB / 128 GB, 8 GB / 256 GB and 12 GB / 256 GB. The first option is sold for the equivalent of $245, the second option is sold for the equivalent of $260, and the third option is sold for the equivalent of $285.
Redmi Note 12 Pro Speed Edition is sold via the Chinese Xiaomi website, and there is no information yet about when the phone will be launched in the global markets.
