WhatsApp allows you to undo the delete for me option if you misclick |
The instant messaging service WhatsApp has introduced a new feature that allows to undo the 'Delete for me' program if the user clicks by mistake.
And WhatsApp, which is owned by Meta, allows users to delete messages they send to other people so that they disappear only from them, or they disappear from everyone so that they cannot be seen before the other party sees them.
However, some users may try to undo the message but accidentally press the "delete for me" option which does not allow them to delete it for everyone after deleting the person who sent it. So this new feature can save these people from the potential embarrassment of accidentally deleting a message they just received.
The new feature, called "accidental deletion," displays a five-second window that allows users to undo their messages in individual or group chats and delete them for everyone.
WhatsApp said that the new feature will be available to all Android users and Apple to all iOS users.
According to a report by WABetaInfo, which monitors experimental features for instant messaging services, the service began testing the feature with some Android and iOS users in August.
It should be noted that WhatsApp first introduced the Delete Everyone feature in 2017, allowing users to delete messages sent to others. This feature aims to fix issues with improperly sent messages in individual and group chats.
While the original version of the feature was limited to seven minutes, last August WhatsApp extended the maximum time each person is allowed to delete a message to 60 hours.
The launch of the new feature comes days after WhatsApp started testing a feature that would delete text messages sent by users after reading them, similar to the single viewing feature that the service currently offers for photos and videos.
This allows users to download WhatsApp for Android from the Google Play Store and iOS from the Apple App Store. The application can also be downloaded on mobile and other desktop devices via the official website.
