Twitter relaunches Twitter Blue with a gold verification badge |
Twitter today officially announced the relaunch of its monthly subscription service Twitter Blue, with a new look for web and Apple iOS users.
Twitter Blue subscribers can enjoy exclusive features like editing tweets, uploading 1080p videos, and reading mode, according to the social media platform in its blog post.
Also as part of the subscription, users receive a blue verification badge after verifying their accounts to ensure they meet all of Twitter's requirements, including rules against impersonation.
The company warned against suspending accounts that break its rules without refund.
Twitter Blue is available online for $8 per month or on Apple's iOS for $11 per month. Subscribers who sign up on one platform can access Twitter Blue on all supported platforms: iOS, web, and Android.
Existing Twitter Blue subscribers can automatically upgrade, cancel or renew their subscription at the new price. Prices may vary by region. Regarding Android, the company said it plans to offer a subscription service for Google's operating system soon.
Twitter Blue subscriptions are now available in the United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and the United Kingdom, the company said. She said she plans to roll it out to other countries soon.
In addition to verifying all accounts upon registration, the company says it takes a number of other steps to detect and prevent plagiarism.
It said that subscribers who change their profile information, including: display name, profile picture, and username, will lose their blue tick temporarily until Twitter verifies the changes.
The company added that accounts created within the last 90 days, inactive accounts, accounts without a verified phone number, and accounts whose profile information has recently changed cannot log into Twitter Blue at this time.
Along with the changes, the company announced that it will replace the "official" badge that now appears on company accounts with a gold verification badge, and will soon introduce a gray verification badge for government and multilateral accounts.
