| Snapchat allows gifting of Snapchat+ subscriptions |
On Tuesday, Snapchat announced three new features for subscribers of its paid service Snapchat+, which will cost $3.99 per month.
With the first feature, subscribers can now personalize their experience by customizing the shot button and app icon, allowing them to change the shot button to any color or shape they want, such as a heart or a soccer ball.
The second feature allows subscribers to add custom backgrounds to their conversations with the new Chat Backgrounds feature, similar to the instant messaging service WhatsApp introduced a long time ago. This feature allows you to keep the default background or choose a custom one, for example a photo from your gallery.
The latest feature that Snapchat launched today for paid Snapchat+ subscribers is the “Gifts” feature, which, as the name suggests, allows you to gift a friend a Snapchat Plus subscription. This feature allows subscribers to offer a 12-month subscription for $39.99.
It should be noted that Snapchat launched last June a paid subscription service with exclusive and experimental features, in addition to making new features available to subscribers before they are made available to other Snapchat users.
With Snapchat Plus, subscribers can see who has reviewed Stories, as well as a special badge and Best Friends Forever feature. The service also offers other features, for example examples include the ability to show the approximate route of a friend's recent travels on a Snapchat map, the ability to reply to stories first, the ability to show emojis after viewing a story, Bitmoji wallpapers, and the solar system.
Last October, Snapchat introduced a series of exclusive beta benefits to Snapchat Plus subscribers designed to allow them to "customize their Snapchat experience the way they want."
Among these features, there is a feature that allows subscribers to decide when the story will disappear after an hour, 6 hours, 12 hours, 24 hours, 2 days, 3 days, or a week, and another feature that allows subscribers to create stories for yourself that you can create friends with. Set different color tones and a function that allows them to display their favorite color on the screen when capturing content.
It is estimated that the launch of Snapchat Plus helped Snap generate around $5 million in revenue within the first month of its launch.
