Microsoft is fixing a bug with the Windows taskbar

Microsoft said a Windows 10 system update released in late September caused the taskbar to flicker and made some programs unstable.

"This may cause flickering of taskbar items and system instability after installing updates released on or after September 20, 2022," the US tech giant said in a new build added to the Windows Health dashboard on Friday.

The company added that in some cases, restarting affected devices can mitigate instability, but it's only likely on some affected systems.

The full list of affected Windows versions includes: Windows 10 22H2, Windows 10 21H2, Windows 10 21H1, and Windows 10 20H2.

According to the symptoms caused by this problem, Microsoft mentions how z was opened when the problem occurred.

Microsoft addresses this issue through a Known Issue Deployment Mechanism that eliminates fake, non-security Windows patches deployed through Windows Update.

Once rolled back, the KIR patch typically reaches all consumer and unmanaged devices within 24 hours, with the option to speed up the process by restarting affected user devices.

IT administrators must install and configure KIR Group Policy to resolve system instability on affected devices that are managed by the organization.

It should be noted that Microsoft released another emergency patch last month, the Known Issues Rollback (KIR) mechanism, to fix another issue that was causing errors and causing the taskbar and desktop to disappear on Windows 10.
