LG and MSI have unveiled monitor with never-before-seen features for gamers |
LG has unveiled the world's first 45-inch 240Hz curved OLED monitor, which aims to appeal to gamers.
The South Korean company said it will start accepting initial orders for the monitors from December 12, and will start selling and shipping to customers on December 28.
LG's all-new 45-inch UltraGear monitor comes with a size of 44.75 inches, 800R curvature, and a viewing angle of 178 degrees left and right and 178 degrees up and down.
In terms of color and resolution, the strength of the screen lies in the fact that it covers 98.5% of the DCI-P3 color spectrum, i.e. supports 1.07 billion colors, with a resolution of 3440 x 1440 pixels and an aspect ratio of 21:9. The response time of the die is just 0.3ms. The contrast ratio is 1,500,000:1.
The monitor has two HDMI ports, a headphone jack, two USB 3.0 ports, and a DisplayPort connector.
The new LG monitors support many image technologies such as: NVIDIA G-Sync, AMD FreeSync Premium, Black Stabilizer, Dynamic Action Sync, Crosshair, and Smart Energy Saving.
The screen also supports reading mode, PIP picture-in-picture technology, and the screen also supports HDR10 and other technologies.
In response, LG intends to release its first 45-inch, 240Hz curved OLED monitor worldwide for $1,699.99.
MSI has unveiled what is said to be the world's first curved ultra-wide gaming monitor with the same 240Hz QD-OLED frequency, Quantum Dot, which delivers higher color level and brightness.
The company said that it intends to reveal more specifications for its new screen, Project 491C, at the Consumer Electronics Show CES 2023 in the United States in early January next year.
As part of the two companies' competition to attract gaming enthusiasts, AMD revealed at the RDNA3 GPU event in early November that Samsung intends to offer 8K Ultra HD resolution for its ultra-wide curved displays.
AMD said the South Korean tech giant will launch an 8K curved monitor with DisplayPort 2.1 without revealing any other details about the display, other than revealing more details at the CED 2023 Consumer Electronics Show.
