Apple releases iOS 16.1.2 for iPhone |
Apple started rolling out the new iOS 16.1.2 update to iPhones on Wednesday.
The release of iOS 16.1.2 comes three weeks after Apple released iPhone 16.1.1 and just over a month after the release of 16.1.
The new version of the operating system for iPhone smartphones includes security updates, improved compatibility with mobile operators, and improved collision detection for iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Pro.
Apple announced the collision detection feature at an event last September and said it would allow iPhone 14 and Apple Watch Series 8 phones to automatically contact emergency services if they determine that a user was involved in a car accident.
Last October, collision detection reportedly called emergency services in the United States simply because a user was moving too fast during a roller coaster ride. I don't know if the new update will fix this problem.
The update can be downloaded by going to Settings, then the General option, then Software Update, then Download and Install and follow the instructions on the screen.
