Telegram supports large groups of threads and blockchain IDs

Instant messaging service Telegram has announced a new update that adds "themes" for large group chats, a new form of secure and collectible blockchain credentials, and video message-to-text conversion.

Telegram says its groups support large gatherings of hundreds of thousands of users, and to make these conversations easier to read, groups with more than 200 members can now enable topics and create separate sections for each.

The service explains that topics such as one-to-one conversations work in a group and support shared media and custom notification settings. Members can discuss any topic freely while using other Telegram features such as: Examples: Polls, Pinned Messages, and Bots: Bots.

Since the themes feature is designed for large groups, Telegram plans to offer a variety of tools designed for small groups later this year.

Group admins can enable themes in their group settings and can control who can create and manage themes in the Permissions section.

In addition to the threading feature, Telegram says users can help others connect with them or find their public groups and channels by ID. In addition to the basic "username" ID, multiple Brand IDs can now be assigned to each of your public accounts or conversations.

The service notes that the TON blockchain network protects ownership of collective identifiers. Credentials can be bought and sold through the new Fragment platform to provide an easy and secure way to buy and trade high-quality Telegram domains.

Cheap identifiers act like simple usernames, appear in general search results, and have their own links for use outside of Telegram: username.t.me and t.me/username.

Unlike regular "username" identifiers, pointable identifiers can be as little as 5 characters, making it easier to get unique identifiers like news or games. Once a user has an ID, they have complete control over their collective IDs and can sell or store them for later use. This way you can disable any tagged username and make it invisible in search results without losing it.

After offering subscribers of the paid service "Telegram Premium" the ability to convert any voice message into text, the new update adds the same functionality to video messages, allowing subscribers of the service to receive instant text transcripts.

In addition to the above features, according to Telegram, Telegram has added 10 new emojis, redesigned its iOS app with night mode, support for text resizing on Android, along with some small design improvements like: b-when scanning. The new Leave a Reply animation opens a new menu with multiple contact options when you tap the phone number on the user's profile page.

The latest version of the Telegram application can be downloaded from the Google Play Store (Android users) and the App Store (iOS users), and other devices can also be downloaded from the website of the service.
