Samsung plans to bring 8K resolution to its ultra-wide curved displays |
AMD announced at its RDNA3 GPU event on Thursday that Samsung plans to introduce 8K Ultra HD resolution for its curved ultra-widescreen displays.
AMD said the South Korean tech giant will release an 8K curved monitor with DisplayPort 2.1, but it didn't provide any other details about the display other than revealing more details at CED 2023 in early January.
Judging by the aspect ratio of Samsung's 32:9 ultrawide curved monitor, 8K resolution doesn't seem to be able to match the 16:9 aspect ratio resolution standard.
For comparison, Samsung calls it the Odyssey G9 display with a resolution of 1440 pixels long and 5120 pixels wide, 2K resolution of 1440 pixels with an aspect ratio of 16:9, while 4K resolution is 2160 pixels long and 3,840 pixels wide. .
Specifically, at the event AMD announced its next-generation graphics cards, the RX 7900 XTX and RX 7900 XT, which are the first to support the new RDNA 3 architecture, meaning that they use a design chip similar to the company's Ryzen processor.
The company says both cards will be available on December 13, with the RX 7900 XTX card priced at $999 and the RX 7900 XT card priced at $899.
