The Diamond Abrasive on the Stage 1 Conical Disc creates extremely fine grooves (for greater bite force) while also forming the first major chamfer of the curved edge. Stage 2 uses a finer abrasive on the conical wheel to create a second, smaller bevel with grooves. Stage 3 uses a patented flexible grinding wheel system to create microscopically smooth, sharp edges. It creates the third and final bevel when milling the holes formed in Steps 1 and 2. Step 3 is also used to sharpen serrated knives as it straightens and hones each tooth.
