Musk is advertising a Twitter account verification service for $8 a month |
Elon Musk announced via his personal account on the Twitter platform that after criticizing his plan to charge $ 19.99, the platform called (Twitter Blue) has verified a blue tick, and the subscription service for the account will cost $ 8 per month. monthly interest.
Musk tweeted: “People power! Blue costs $8 a month.
Musk shared more details about his new plans; “Subscribers get priority in answers and searches, and along with the ability to post longer audio and video content, the number of ads shown to non-subscribing users is halved,” he said.
It was previously reported that Musk priced its BlueTick account verification subscription service at $19.99 per month and threatened to terminate BlueTick accounts within 90 days.
The news quickly sparked anger and suspicion from some old Twitter users, including: Stephen King, the author who has nearly 7 million followers on the platform, refused to pay $20 a month to keep the blue tick, and even threatened to do so if he did. All you have to do is exit the platform.
Musk replied, “We have to pay the bills somehow! Twitter can’t be completely dependent on advertisers. How about $8?”
Musk's new plan underscores the weakness of some of his original plans for Twitter and the urgent need to increase revenue and profit for a company that has been losing money for most of its history.
Musk bought Twitter for $44 billion, an amount he felt was clearly overrated, and tried several exit deals but eventually succeeded.
Since completing his takeover of the social media platform on Friday, the billionaire has moved quickly to radically change the Twitter platform, dissolving its board of directors, firing his executives and controlling himself.
In a tweet on Monday, Musk polled his followers and asked if they would restart Vine, Twitter's discontinued short video service.
He also agreed with a user's suggestion to reconsider the platform's word limit. But it's unclear how committed Musk is to pushing some or all of these changes forward.
Specifically, in June 2021, Twitter launched Twitter Blue, the first subscription service on the platform that provides exclusive access to certain features on a monthly subscription basis, including: in-player tweet editing and show series mode.
Twitter’s current lords & peasants system for who has or doesn’t have a blue checkmark is bullshit.
