At a special event in China on Wednesday, Huawei unveiled its foldable smartphone, the Huawei Pocket S.
The foldable Huawei Pocket S is a cheaper version of the Huawei P50 pocket smartphone, and it is inferior in some specifications, especially in terms of camera and chip.
The new Huawei phone has a 6.9-inch OLED display with a resolution of 2790 x 1188 pixels. It supports a refresh rate of 120Hz and the phone features an octa-core Snapdragon 778G processor. In addition to the Adreno 642L GPU, the Adreno 642L GPU.
The front camera has a 10.7 MP screen hole, similar to the Huawei P50 Pocket. The circular screen on the cover is located under the camera and is an OLED type with a resolution of 340 x 340 pixels.
The body has a 40-megapixel main camera with an f / 1.8 lens slot and a 13-megapixel wide-angle camera. The Huawei P50 Pocket's 32-megapixel sensor has been replaced by a laser AF sensor in the new phone. The rear camera supports 10x digital zoom.
Programmatically, Huawei Pocket S runs on Harmony OS 3.0, so it will be sold in China first. The internal storage capacity of the phone is 128 GB, 256 GB, or 512 GB.
At 7.2 mm thick when open and 15.2 mm thick when closed, the new Huawei phone uses an ultra-thin bendable graphite plate for improved heat dissipation. It has a 4000mAh battery with 40W fast charging.
The company claims that the phone's "wing mechanism" has been opened and closed nearly 400,000 times in tests to ensure its durability. The phone weighs 190 grams.
Huawei launched the Huawei Pocket S in five colors: black, green, blue, pink and yellow.
The company intends to launch its new foldable smartphone in China at the equivalent of $820 for the 128GB option and $890 for the 256GB option, and both options will be available from April 10. It will be available from December next year for the equivalent of $1,028.
