Elon Musk plans to relaunch Vine after taking over Twitter

Elon Musk has asked Twitter engineers to start work on an updated version of Vine, which Axios says could be released before the end of the year. Musk tweeted a poll yesterday asking if he should bring back Vine, and 69.5% of 4 million respondents voted yes.

Twitter acquired the video app Vine in 2012, which was very popular before the TikTok era. The app was slowly phased out, and Twitter eventually ended it in 2016. Vine was designed to allow users to record and share repeating six-second videos.

Vine edition can rival the popular video app TikTok. Twitter engineers were asked to review the Vine database, which has not changed since the shutdown. A source told Axios that it "takes a lot of work".
