A leaked image reveals details of Google's Pixel Fold |
We've been hearing a lot about a foldable phone that Google is working on lately, and according to new information today, it will be called the Pixel Fold.
The phone, which appears to be in the works, is currently one of Google's "most mysterious projects" and is set to launch alongside the Pixel tablet next May.
As always, we're hoping to debut the phone at Google's annual I/O developer conference in May. There will be two versions, black and white.
The source says the Pixel Fold will have "usual Pixel-like performance" and the main Pixel camera. One of the sources indicated that the device is very thick.
The $1,799 device was also announced. That's the price of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 when it launched in the US in August, and we're mentioning it because it's set to be the Pixel Fold's main competitor for the foreseeable future.
However, until Google's foldable phone finally launches, the Galaxy Z Fold4 will definitely see a lot of discounts, so it remains to be seen if the Pixel Fold will include affordable features.
Apparently, the Pixel Fold's camera strip isn't as wide as the Pixel 7 and 7 Pro's, as it doesn't extend all the way to the edge. There are two 9.5-megapixel front-facing cameras, one in a hole in the outer screen and one to the right of the unusually large top edge of the inner screen.
The power button has a built-in fingerprint sensor and there are two speakers; One up and one down.
