The Tesla Model Y has overtaken the Volkswagen Golf as the best selling car in Germany
The compact Volkswagen Golf was a huge success, being one of Germany's best-selling cars for decades. But in the emerging era of electric cars, Volkswagen is facing competition from new competitors in the field of electric cars.
This includes not only Volkswagen ID.4 and ID.5, but also two of the company's most popular electric vehicles, the Tesla Model Y and Model 3.
The Tesla Model Y has now overtaken the Volkswagen Golf as the best-selling car in the automaker's most important European market, according to the latest statistics from the Federal Transportation Administration.
This news comes just months after Tesla officially announced production of an electric SUV at its new Gigafactory in Berlin. A total of 9,846 Tesla Model Y was registered in Germany in September 2022, and a Volkswagen Golf nearly 7,000 in the same period.
