Tesla produced 365923 electric cars in the third quarter... up 42% from the second quarter
After the pandemic-related disruptions in the second quarter, Tesla ramped up production capacity again in the last quarter, leading the company to reach a record number of deliveries between July 1 and September 30.
The company produced 36,5923 electric vehicles in the reporting period. This represents a 54% increase in production year over year, as Tesla produced 237,823 vehicles in the third quarter of 2021. Production also increased by 41.5% compared to the second quarter of 2022, when Tesla produced 258,580 vehicles.
The company produced 19,935 Model S and Model X vehicles in the third quarter and delivered 18,672 vehicles. The Model 3 and Model Y produced 345,988 and 345,988 vehicles, respectively.
Tesla said it delivered a total of 343,830 vehicles in the third quarter, the most of any quarter so far. But this number was lower than expected, according to Reuters. On average, analysts expect Tesla to deliver 359,162 electric vehicles in the first quarter.
The company produced approximately 20,000 additional vehicles and was able to deliver in the third quarter. "As our production continues to grow, it becomes increasingly difficult to ensure reasonable vehicle capacity during peak logistics weeks," Tesla said in a statement.
