Samsung offers the fastest DRAM LPDDR5X on the market |
Samsung today (Tuesday) announced the latest version of LPDDR5X DRAM, which offers the fastest speed on the market at 8.5Gbps and will be used in mobile devices equipped with Snapdragon processors.
In a statement, the South Korean tech giant said it exceeded the maximum speed of 7.5 Gbit/s announced for this type of memory last March by optimizing the high-speed signaling environment between the application processor and memory.
As a global leader in the mobile DRAM market for more than a decade, Samsung has led the widespread adoption of high-speed smartphones, enabling many consumers to experience powerful computing power on their mobile devices.

Due to its high performance and low power consumption, LPDDR DRAM is rapidly gaining popularity in modern computer systems, and its applications have historically expanded beyond smartphones, personal computers, high-performance computing devices, servers, and cars. A few years have had solid growth.
Recently, LPDDR DRAM has been in high demand, especially in the PC market, and the combination of high performance, low power consumption and a small form factor is helping PC manufacturers make laptops smaller, lighter and more powerful.
LPDDR memory is also an increasingly important part of modern cars. As autonomous driving functions generate more and more data, higher bandwidth memory such as LPDDR DRAM becomes increasingly necessary to process large amounts of vehicle data at higher speeds.
For data centers and servers, the low power consumption characteristics of LPDDR DRAM help reduce power consumption, increase total cost of ownership for data center managers while reducing heat and carbon emissions and mitigating their impact on climate change.
“As demand for faster, smaller and more energy efficient memory continues to grow across industries, LPDDR DRAM is expected to expand its reach in emerging markets through AI and Metaverse,” Samsung said.
