Facebook announces new features for groups

Today, Thursday, Facebook announced new features for groups on its social network to improve interaction between users.

Groups remain the central place for users of its social network to collaborate and do what they love, the US tech giant said in a blog post.

Facebook added that the majority of internet users are members of at least 15 active groups, with more than 100 million joining the groups every day.

Today, at the Facebook Community Summit, the company announced a series of changes aimed at helping users collaborate on topics important to them, strengthening the culture of the community, and making it easier for admins to manage groups.

Facebook's new group feature

Facebook says Short Reels allows users to share information, tell stories, and connect with each other on a deeper level. Administrators and group members can also add creative elements such as audio, text, and filters to a video before sharing it.

The company has also added the ability to share Facebook events for public groups to Instagram Stories, and is currently testing group profile updates to help admins build relationships and communication between members.

These updates include: Adjusting the information in the About Me section to highlight the information administrators want to share with members so that they and members can better understand each other and share content that reflects the interests of the group. Facebook is also testing adding a profile tag to let others know that you can chat freely.

Earlier this year, Facebook announced that group admins can create channels to communicate more closely and better with groups. The company noted that the community chat, which allows users to communicate in real time and discuss common topics through text, voice and photo messages, is now available in 140 countries.

Facebook also said in its post that group managers have new tools to help them manage group culture and leadership more effectively. She mentioned that she was testing a new method that would allow administrators to highlight the most contributing members of the group and give them some accountability.

The company also said it is testing a new role that will allow administrators to identify and connect with active members who help others feel welcome and encourage them to participate in the group.

To combat misinformation, Facebook also announced that group administrators can automatically move posts found to contain false information to the Pending Posts section so they can review them later before deleting them.
