Apple releases macOS Ventura update for Mac computers |
Apple on Monday announced a new update for macOS Ventura PC that brings a number of features it says will "take the Mac experience to a whole new level, with game-changing features to help users do more than ever."
The US tech giant said in a blog post that new features such as interstitial camera streaming will allow users to work seamlessly on their Apple devices. Productivity tools like Stage Manager help users stay focused and easily switch between tasks.
Similar to the iPadOS 16 update for iPad tablets, the new update also includes passwords for Safari and features for the Mail and Messages apps.
Apple says the Continuity Camera feature allows Macs to automatically detect iPhones when they're nearby and use the camera wirelessly. This feature improves user experience with Center Stage, Portrait mode, and Studio Lights that light up the user's face and darken the background.
The company said it has included delivery functionality in the FaceTime messaging app on Macs, allowing calls to be transferred seamlessly between devices.
The company has also added new ways to share and communicate through the Messages app, which includes new features that allow users to edit and cancel messages, as well as mark conversations as unread.
The company has added smart new tools to the Mail app, such as, for example, a reminder feature that allows you to return to the message later, cancel the delivery before it reaches the recipient, or schedule a message to be sent at the best time.
Similar to the iPad update, Apple is adding the Shared Photo Library feature to iCloud Shared Photo Library, giving family members new ways to share photos with up to 6 people, and then collaborate and contribute. Users get smart suggestions to share memories with gallery visitors or others of their choice.
The company has also added a password feature to the Safari browser, which will replace traditional passwords in the future. The keys are authenticated biometrically using Touch ID and Face ID and synced securely and encrypted across various Apple devices such as iPhone, iPad and Mac. The company has also added tab sharing to its Safari browser, allowing you to share a set of web pages with friends and family.
Apple claims that Stage Manager's multitasking tool lets users organize their workspaces automatically, while organizing apps and windows so they can focus on their main task while still seeing everything.
The company added that the Spotlight feature brings productivity gains as it now allows users to search for images in their photo library, across the web, and across the system in apps such as Messages and Notes. You can also search images by location, person, scene, or object, and Live Text lets you search for text within the image.
In addition to the above, the macOS Ventura update brings performance improvements to gaming, particularly AAA titles coming to Mac computers later this year, such as Capcom's Resident Evil Village, coming to the Mac AppStore next Friday.
