Apple delays Macs with M2 chips until 2023

Instead of launching new Macs in 2022, Apple decided to release an updated version of the M2 chip in the 14-inch MacBook Pro and 16-inch MacBook Pro in the first quarter of 2023.

AppleInsider said Saturday that Apple is unlikely to release any new PCs in the fall of 2022, after the company's management issued a statement in its quarterly results.

And on Sunday, it was reported that Apple decided on the matter and stopped releasing other Macs this year. In a post on Naver, leaker Yeux1122 said the launch of the MacBook Pro computers has been pushed back from late November to next year.

The agency's editor-in-chief, Mark Gorman, wrote in Bloomberg's Power On newsletter that he has retracted his comments over the past few weeks regarding the launch of a new MacBook Pro computer with the M2 chip in November, and said he has now said so. Apple will introduce another advanced form. The first quarter of the 2023 calendar.

Rather than trying another update before the holidays, it's clear that new Macs will be delayed by a few months, in conjunction with a new macOS update: macOS Ventura 13.3, coming out in February or early March.

Gorman had said in late September that he believed the new Mac would launch in 2022, confirming on October 15 that the Mac would launch in November. Then, in his October 23 newsletter, he once again insisted that a Mac might appear in November.

In a newsletter published on Sunday, Gorman cited comments on financial performance discussed Saturday in support of the delayed launch, including company officials lowering their Mac sales growth forecast.

At launch, it will likely include updates for the 14-inch MacBook Pro and 16-inch MacBook Pro processor. Also includes an updated Mac mini with an M2 chip and major external changes.

Apple has also stepped up its internal testing, including the M2 Pro and M2 Max chipsets, according to Gorman. It is clear that the M2 Max chip will increase the number of CPU cores from 10 cores to 12 cores, and the graphics cores will be upgraded to a maximum of 38 cores.
