The lack of spare parts reduces the production of the Fiat 500 electric car |
The Fiat 500 electric car was the best-selling version in the European market from the beginning of the year until July, but the company recently faced a shortage of auto parts that reduced production.
Stellantis plans to double production of the new Fiat 500, which ranks third in the world market after the Tesla Model Y and Model 3.
CEO Carlos Tavares said the company originally intended to double or triple production, but the decline in vehicle configurations and parts has led to changes in the company's plans.
Automakers in particular are facing shortages of semiconductors and many other spare parts while batteries are available.
The company aims to increase production of the Fiat 500 electric car from 46,925 in 2021 to 90,000 this year.
It should be noted that the popularity of the electric Fiat 500 is due to the uniquely affordable price of the car, which sells for 29,400 euros or 28,485 dollars in the European market.
