Sony introduces an updated PS5 with AMD Oberon Plus chip to improve cooling and energy efficiency

Unlike the previous generation PlayStation 4 range, which was launched in Pro and Slim versions, it doesn't look like Sony is planning to release a new PlayStation 5 version any time soon. Although that doesn't mean the PS5 version hasn't been updated at all.

The Japanese giant has recently started shipping the new CFI-1202 located in Australia. YouTube famous Austin Evans posted a new video of him disassembling the console. From this video, we can see that the latest version is much lighter than the PS5 version released at launch.

Not only is the company's new version of the console lightweight, it appears to run cooler than the original PS5 version and be more energy efficient.

The WccFTech report also claims that the new PlayStation 5 CFI-1202 will have an upgraded AMD Ober processor called the Oberon Plus chip. The processor is based on TSMC's 6nm manufacturing process. Thanks to a 6nm chip, the console runs cooler and has a smaller heatsink.

We can expect a new PS5 Slim and possibly a PS5 Pro version soon. Although the company has not announced anything about it yet.
