The Stud Finder Wall Scanner allows you to quickly find wires, pipes, metal or wood 2 inches deep in drywall or plaster without drilling additional holes. Audio alerts on the LCD screen and wall reader let you know when you find the center of the button and when you are close to the line of fire you may want to avoid

Press the power button to turn on the stud finder and choose the desired mode
Correctly calibrate the device before each scan
After selecting the mode, hold down the scan button (on the side of the tool) to calibrate the tool. Wait for the recovery bar to disappear and a beep to confirm that the calibration is complete.

Slowly move the tape finder along the wall, but note that if the scanner is shaken or accidentally raised, the device will need to be recalibrated.

Locate the power cord
When the bar is full and beeps at the loudest, you have found the center of the object, and mark it with a pencil.
Then select Metal Scan to test if it is metal. After making sure it is not metal, that means you have found the center of the bolt

Fast, accurate and repetitive
The tool must be calibrated before each use. Choose the part of the wall that shouldn't have any nails or wires. You may have to tap on the wall from left to right to distinguish the hollow sounds as there can be gaps between the buttons. With the device lying flat against the wall at this distance, press and hold the button on the left side of the device until you hear a short beep, which indicates that the calibration is complete. It should only take a few seconds and during the calibration process you will see the displayed bar shrink followed by a short beep. (If scanning does not find the prism, try another calibration in a different area of the wall where the prism should not be.)
