Google announces the closure of its game streaming service Stadia |
Google has officially announced the closure of its Stadia cloud game streaming service, as the service will be available to users until January 2023.
The search giant Google has started closing the game streaming service Stadia in the coming period, as Google stops selling devices for the game service in its own store and the games are available to subscribers until January 18, 2023.
Google will also refund users or purchases related to the game service, with a full refund expected in mid-January.
Stadia's vice president, Phil Harrison, explained that the service, which launched a few years ago, either didn't live up to Google's expectations or it didn't catch up with users. So the company decided to end the game streaming service.
Google has also confirmed its intention to hire Stadia employees in other areas of the company such as YouTube, Google Play or augmented reality.
